Last time we went to Remix
Tonight was September's Remix.
Miss M has talked about it several times a day since Sunday.
I have talked about it every day since Sunday
Reminding her that I didn't know if we'd be able to make it or not.
(Crazy busy Wednesday and I didn't want to promise something I wasn't sure I could follow through on or not.)
We got home at 5:15.
I warmed up left-overs by 5:20.
Her stabilization worker showed up at 5:22.
She left at 6:30.
Miss M showered and I ate.
At 6:50 we finally left the house.
Remix starts at 7:00.
It takes 20 minutes to get to church.
But I knew she wanted to go so bad.
And I knew it would be good
For us both.
She was prepared.
She talked herself through the scenarios.
1) We might have missed the worship songs.
2) If they have a family activity afterwards, we may have to leave
3) If we have to leave, an attitude of gratefulness despite the leaving would be expected still
4) If we had to miss the prizes they passed out, an attitude of acceptance can sometimes lead to other blessings.
We arrived to Remix at 7:10.
They were running late.
There was 1:40 on the count-down clock.
We sat.
We praised!
We listened.
We danced!
We watched.
We laughed!
She questioned.
(James 3:12 - it's kind of confusing for a 3rd grader.)
We praised more!
We danced more!
8:05 they dismissed us to the family activity.
It turned out to be something we could do at home.
8:15 we found a McDonald's and treated ourselves to 99 cent cones.
8:25 we were home.
8:45 Miss M was in bed.
No tears.
No drama.
No meltdowns.
Just love.
Just praise.
Just pure smiles and joy.
I love my church.
I love that Miss M loves church.
I love that I attend a church that focuses standing beside families.
Praise Reports:
*Miss M has three goals that she is working on and are attached to her weekly allowance. Today she got a perfect report from her after school club and earned all three allowance extras for the goals met!
* We changed Miss M's stabilization plan to reflect her smooth transition into my life and erased all the notes, interventions that we in place from the first placement due to the fact I've never seen any of those behaviors. Praise God for His watching over her and placing us together. We are a good match for one another and I am so thankful.
Prayer Requests:
* Miss M is missing her mom. It feels like forever since she's seen her and is quite anxious for Saturday to come. Please pray that NOTHING goes wrong with transportation or schedules this week and that the four hour visit happens fully.
