First Day of School!

When I got out of the shower this morning I was greeted by a third-grader who was dressed with her shoes on, her hair done, and playing with her play dough on the couch.

It was 6 am.
We leave the house at 7:10 am.

Good thing she's a morning person - because I am NOT.
I had NO idea how many people drop off and stay with their children the first day of school because I've always been on the other side of the door as the teacher...but let's just say there wasn't a parking spot anywhere.  We got her in her room just in the nick of time and she went right in and that was that.  :-)

My friend from Paloma, who is the art teacher, was so sweet.  I received an email in the morning from her telling me that Miss M had just been in her art class and how great she had done and how she was fitting in!  We are so blessed to have Miss M going to my home school and have such great friends watching over her with such love and care!

It was a whirlwind day for me trying to do my job and get DES to approve her childcare. (See prayer requests below for a bit more.)

When I picked Miss M up from school she was happy and satisfied, but more than ready to go home.

I was greeted with her running to the door to meet me and shouting along the way!

"Yay.  You're here.  Now can we go home?"

Yes. Please, yes.

We talked a bit on the way too the car and then as we drove off, but after rehashing her day, we both just needed quiet. I gave her my iPod to play with.  She loves to choose a play list, just chill to some music, and stare out the window.

After a few miles of silence, Miss M suddenly she popped up with,

"Oh, Mommy!  How was your first day as principal?"

Literally made my heart melt.
Praise Report:
-Miss M loved school and kept talking about two new friends she made.  "One even had the exact same pair of shoes on that I did!"
-We had after school childcare for Miss M (even if it wasn't okay-ed until 20 minutes before the end of her school day.)

Prayer Request:
Please pray that the official DES authorization comes through to my after-school care placement asap and I won't have to cover the cost until that point.  It basically boiled down to today that the after school club still did not have the official approval they needed, I played phone tagged with too many people to count, and nothing got done on DES part except a phone call from some too far down the chain of command to have any clout.  But the dear woman who runs the after school program at school called the after-school office to vouch for me and begged them to get Miss M in even without the official authorization from the DES office and the supervisors there who know me pulled some strings and Miss M was safe, busy, and happy until I could get out of work to go get her.
