Verbal Diarrhea

Miss M
At times
Is known
To have
Verbal Diarrhea
Big Time.

Usually it's just to me
But every one in a while
It happens when she is at school
Or daycare
Or meets a new person
How do I know?
Well,
I can see the shocked look in people's faces.
Their eyes bulge out.
Their mouths are slightly agape.
They are usually speechless.
They generally look a little run over.

I've learned to not comment in moments like these.
I just let her go.
I just let her say.
I just keep on doing what I am
Or was
Doing.

Usually.

Last night
After a very
LONG winded explosion
(About what?
I don't recall)
Miss M took a deep breath
And then said
"Sometimes I talk so much I run out of breath."

For the sake of her self esteem
For the sake of my mothering
I bit my tongue
And didn't reply.

Then she said,
"One of my worst nightmares is that I am going to wake up and will have lost my voice."

Oh, oy vey.
This child.
