Michigan Day 1

Home.
Family.
Fall.
Fun.
We got to my parents house about 4:00.
The girls were tucked into their bed in my old bedroom by 4:30.
The best news -
They slept until 11 am.
Thank you, Jesus.
Introductions were made.
Friendships were begun.
And soon the 8 girls
(My mom, my sister, my other sister, my cousin, my niece, myself, and my two foster daughters!)
Headed out to lunch at Souper Cafe
(YUM!)
And then to State Park for a walk in
The breeze
The cold
The wind.
We were layered up
But we were happy.

Walking sticks were located within moments of being on the trail.  The two 8 year olds were fast buddies and the 10 year old tolerated their silliness and loudness with much a mixture of humor, embarrassment, and sighs.  Overall, when roses were shared at bedtime, both Ms. O and Miss M were in their glory and ready for whatever adventures day 2 might bring.

Following my mom down a path to view the cranes and mallard ducks.  In order, my mom, my second sister, my niece, Ms. O, Miss M, and my cousin who came in from Indiana for a fast weekend.  My mom and sisters have loved meeting Miss M face to face after weeks of stories and anecdotes and they, like everyone, is already taken with Ms. O.

I think this one is frame worthy.  We mostly were sticking to the paths in the woods, but we had to venture out to the bay.  The two third graders only came back to the path once the rain drops started to fall (but eventually held off, thankfully).  When they returned, their pockets were full of shells which had been carefully place in appropriate pockets so as not to get confused with each other.

All in all
It was a
Lovely
Special
Fun
Pleasant
Fall
Michigan
Day.

And the good news is
By 9:00 pm this evening,
Michigan time,
(Which, is 6 pm AZ time!)
Both girls were showered
Tucked in bed
And asleep!
Thank you, Jesus!

Praise Reports:
The flight to Michigan yesterday was seriously the fastest plane ride of my life. Security was a dream, the timing for dinner before boarding worked out within minutes, the girls were so good on the plane, and the ride was perfect.  I KNOW this is because of the prayers of my dear family and friends.  I can't thank you enough for lifting us up before the Lord in your hearts and mind.

Prayer Requests:
Honestly, Miss M was getting on my nerves today.  It boils down to the attachment issues we are working through and working with.  She's a good kid, a smart kid, a funny kid - just gets over the top very quickly and today I was on my last nerve.  Pray that I have a understanding, patient heart with her.  And with Ms. O - well, she was quiet today.  A lot of it was tiredness, I know.  But I really don't know her like I do Miss M.  Please pray that I can read her signs of emotional needs if/when they arise.  There were a lot of us around here today.  There will be more tomorrow.  Miss M thrives off of that - it truly gives her a weird high.  Ms. O isn't so much that way.  She's more leery with new people - as most of us are.  Please pray that I have wisdom to handle, love, and help these two very different, very special young ladies.  I love them both with all my heart.
